David was born on March 14, 1981 and raised in West Hartford, CT. He had a fairly normal, middle class childhood, playing on various local sports teams while not excelling at any of them. Only in his studies did he ever find success. When he reached junior high he realized something was different about him than most of his other friends. He was gay. He even found his first real boyfriend at the beginning of high school, having to come out to his parents when something life changing would happen to him.
David found himself pregnant from the only sexual experience he had ever had. His parents could not deal with the life their son would have and the gossip about their only child, giving him the option of abortion, putting the child up for adoption or keeping it and being sent away. When he chose to keep his child, he was barely able to tell his boyfriend Trysten before he had to leave, never getting to see him again or even tell him about their child.
His life was hard as a young father, but eventually he was able to settle down with some family in California and obtain not only his Bachelor's degree, but also his Master's in psychology. He hoped to help other teens who found themselves in his situation. He first worked at a small clinic in California before applying to the larger Hacienda program when he heard about an opening there. His son Michael, now a teen himself, would have to move with him, and he hoped that his son would come to him if he ever found himself in the same situation.
